Welcome to The Auction Whisperer. This blog is directly associated with AuctionHouseTalk. My name is Anne Benedetto and both this blog and the AHT website is dedicated to all things related to live brick and mortar auctions, auctions just like the one located in your own community.
We owned our own auction house for a number of years but now we spend our time schooling others in how auction houses work and what you need to know when you attend a live auction. AuctionHouseTalk provides lots of detailed information on both the buying and the selling process, as well as educational articles that will familiarize you with many different types of antiques and collectibles.
Here at The Auction Whisperer we do much the same thing – we will concentrate on what you need to know to successfully buy and sell at your local auction house. Part of being a successful buyer or seller is learning about the items being auctioned. So we will also provide you with important tidbits about antiques and collectibles; the right way and the wrong way to bid and what you need to know to be a successful consignor.
Our intent is to expand our coverage of up to the minute happenings in the world of auctions. If you snooze you lose so we want you to know everything that is going on as soon as possible. We just need a little time to get that up and running.
Live auctions are fun and very entertaining but they have their own rules and regulations – they are a little different from your normal shopping experience. We will help you with all that and you will be a seasoned auction goer before you know it.
